Use AI to understand an astrology transit report

A transit report becomes easier to read when every position has a date and a role. Use AI to explain a supplied calculation, organise its time window and turn its symbolism into questions you can revisit.

Identify what the report is comparing

A personal transit compares a moving planet with a fixed natal position. A sky-to-sky aspect compares two moving planets at the same time. Both can appear in astrology writing, but only the first requires your birth chart. Ask which comparison each line represents before allowing an assistant to describe it as personal.

For example, a report headed transiting Jupiter square natal Mercury has a natal target. A report headed Jupiter square Mercury may instead describe a shared sky configuration. Those labels are hypothetical examples, not today's positions. A reading should preserve the distinction even when both reports use the same aspect name.

Prepare two records with different jobs

Use a calculated birth chart for the natal record. Keep its zodiac, house system, planetary positions and birth-time quality together. For the moving record, use a transit calculation that supplies the date, time, time zone and relevant planetary positions or aspect contacts. A general horoscope is not a substitute for that personal calculation.

StarScore's horoscopes describe shared sky patterns through a sign-based framework. Its published sky scans use daily noon-UTC samples, as explained on the method page. A closest daily sample should not be presented as an exact minute of a personal transit. Bring a separately calculated personal transit report when that is what you want AI to explain.

RecordKeep with the copied data
Natal chartZodiac, houses, time certainty and the target planet or angle
Moving positionsDate, clock time, time zone and the same zodiac reference
Aspect contactTransiting body, natal target, aspect and orb
Timing conventionExact instant, sampled position or broader interpretive window
Optional local housesThe reference location and house method actually used

Check the date before reading the symbolism

Write dates unambiguously and preserve the time zone. A timestamp late in the evening in one location can fall on the next calendar date elsewhere. When two reports disagree by a date, check whether they describe the same instant before comparing their planetary positions. Avoid copying a date while leaving its UTC offset behind.

Also distinguish the birth location from any location used for a current chart. A geocentric longitude comparison and a relocated house reading are different calculations. If your report contains only planetary aspects, do not let an assistant invent a present-day house interpretation from a city mentioned in the conversation.

Choose one contact and explain both sides

Begin with one well-specified transit rather than the entire table. Ask what the moving planet symbolises, what the natal factor symbolises, and how the aspect connects them in the selected tradition. Then add only the houses and supporting aspects that your report actually provides.

In a hypothetical Saturn-to-Mercury reading, the discussion might bring together structure and communication. One expression could concern careful preparation; another could concern overly demanding standards. These possibilities provide questions to examine. They do not demonstrate that a particular meeting, message or delay will occur during the transit.

Keep exactness, orb and duration separate

An exact contact is an angular relationship at a particular moment. An orb is a chosen allowance around that angle. A reading window may extend across the period in which the contact remains within that allowance. Ask the assistant to name which of these it is discussing instead of treating a single date as the whole experience.

Applying means moving toward exactness; separating means moving away under the stated comparison. You need motion information or a sequence of calculated positions to establish that distinction. A screenshot showing an angle alone is insufficient. Retrograde motion may produce repeat contacts, but the report must establish their number and dates; three passes are not automatic.

Use a transit worksheet that keeps the original claim

FieldYour entry
Calculated contactCopy the complete report line without changing its dates
Timing qualityExact, sampled or approximate; include the orb rule
Traditional themeA short explanation tied to the two chart factors
Observation questionOne specific question you can return to during the interval
Later observationsWhat fit, what did not and what was already happening beforehand

Write the first four rows before filling in the last. Keep the original wording when you review the period. Otherwise it is easy to replace a broad expectation with a more convincing explanation after something memorable happens. Ordinary days and mismatches belong in the record alongside striking events.

A prompt for explaining supplied transits

Explain this supplied transit report using [tradition and zodiac]. First separate natal positions from moving positions and repeat the date, time zone, aspect and orb. Identify whether the timing is exact or sampled. Explain one contact through the functions of both planets, then offer two possible traditional interpretations and three observation questions. Preserve any birth-time uncertainty. Do not calculate missing exact dates, add unsupplied house contacts or turn a sky-to-sky aspect into a personal transit.

After reading the answer, ask the assistant to complete the worksheet using only the report and its labelled interpretations. Keep the calculation beside it for comparison. The transit fundamentals guide explains the underlying terms, while the AI aspect guide helps you inspect the connection before expanding the reading.

Questions readers ask

Can I use today's general horoscope as my personal transit chart?

A general horoscope describes shared sky patterns through a broad framework. A personal transit report compares moving positions with your actual natal placements. Use a separately calculated report for that comparison.

Why do two transit reports give different dates?

They may use different time zones, orbs or sampling methods, or distinguish exact contacts from wider windows. Compare those conventions and the natal target before deciding the calculations conflict.

Can AI tell whether an aspect is applying from a screenshot?

Only if the supplied information establishes the direction of motion or explicitly labels the phase. A static angle alone does not show whether the contact is approaching or moving away from exactness.
