Antardasha 5 of 9 in Venus mahadasha · 3 yrs
Venus-Rahu antardasha शुक्र-राहु अंतर्दशा
Venus-Rahu lasts three years, one of the longest sub-periods in the cycle. Rahu, modelled on Saturn, counts Venus as a friend, and Venus returns it, so the combination is classically productive but excessive. Tradition expects material gains, foreign connections, unconventional relationships, and sharp ambition for status and comfort. The cautions are equally strong: deception in romance, over-spending, and indulgence in intoxicants. What is acquired here should be examined for what it costs.

The mahadasha behind it
Venus mahadasha is the longest period in the cycle, twenty years that tradition associates with relationships, comfort, the arts, and material consolidation. It follows the sparse Ketu period and is usually felt as a return to the world. Classical texts read a well-placed Venus as one of the most pleasant dashas, though a weak or afflicted Venus can bring indulgence and relationship strain instead. Read the full Venus mahadasha.
What Rahu adds as sub-lord
Rahu mahadasha is an eighteen year period that tradition associates with ambition, unconventional paths, foreign lands, and the hunger for what one does not yet have. After the direct Mars period it feels more complicated and less predictable. Classical texts read a well-placed Rahu as bringing worldly rise by unusual routes, and an afflicted Rahu as bringing confusion, deception, and dissatisfaction despite gains. As an antardasha lord it colours the mahadasha's agenda rather than replacing it: the houses Rahu owns and occupies in the birth chart become the stage for Venus's themes for 3 yrs. See Rahu as a mahadasha.
How the length is computed
Venus runs 20 years and Rahu runs 18 years in the 120-year cycle, so Venus-Rahu lasts 20 × 18 ÷ 120 = 3.000 years, about 3 yrs. The exact calendar boundaries depend on the Moon's degree at birth; the free kundli lists them.
